Best Stuff on Earth!

I don't typically buy very many cleaning products. I like to use homemade, natural cleaners because it's cheaper, easier and better for you. One day last week however, I was faced with melted red crayon dye all over an entire load of Sportsfan's laundry! Sportsfan and Gamer wash their own laundry and they are supposed to check pockets and make sure that nothing goes in the wash except clothing and soap. Well, this time a crayon accidentally made it in to his laundry bag and thus, into the washing machine and dryer!

I immediately went online scouring the internet for tips on removing these red splotches from half his wardrobe. I came across a frugal web message board where it was suggested that using a mixture of Oxy Clean stain stick, Oxy clean and your regular detergent would remove the stains.

I figured it couldn't get any worse so dabbed all of the spots with the stain stick (above), let them sit for about 5-10 minutes, loaded up the washing machine with warm water, oxy clean powder and our regular detergent (Trader Joe's brand). I decided to let everything presoak before washing it. Round nuber one of washing produce good results but the red dye now faded to a burnt orange....so I repeated the steps again. Round two--stains were GONE!! 100%, Completely GONE! I couldn't believe it!!! I have never been so happy doing laundry before, lol!

Move over Snapple--I have officially declared Oxy Stain Stick gell The Best Stuff on Earth!

Leigh said...: Unfortunately it is one of those items that does not list the ingredients so I have no idea what is in it but you're right, sometimes you just gotta reach for the chemicals!
